Mithibai College of Arts was founded by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) in the year 1961 as a part of the trust's Silver Jubilee function. NAAC re-accredited the college 'A' Grade with a CGPA of 3.57. In the current academic year 2018-2019, Mithibai College has memorable achievements, the college was awarded the 'Best College Award' by the University of Mumbai, 1st rank for Science and Commerce faculty, and 2nd rank for Arts faculty by India Today. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Mithibai College "Autonomy'' for a period of 10 years.
