Tips for student

As a student living away from home, you are suddenly burdened with responsibilities. Not only do you have to study and make sure to make the most of your college life, but you also have to take care of your health, complete your daily chores and manage your finances. It may sound like a lot at first, but is the first real step into adulthood and while you might face some challenges along the way, the journey of college will surely be fun. Learning early on about how to manage these responsibilities not only helps you during college but also further in life as you go about achieving your goals.

The term “broke college student” is pretty common and almost everyone has been through it at least once in their life. But now with rent prices and inflation at an all-time high especially in cities such as Bangalore, maintaining a healthy monthly budget can become difficult and extremely confusing. You can easily forego this dilemma by following a few simple steps month on month to save money and stay a little away from the aforementioned student category. Read on to know more about how you can save money as a student living in Bangalore.

1)Opt for co-living student accommodation in Bangalore

The rent prices in Bangalore are at an all-time high and not every college is equipped with a well-maintained hostel. One of the best alternatives to this is living in a co-living space like ours. Not only is the cost of PG in Bangalore with food inclusive of amenities such as housekeeping, laundry, home-style meals, well-equipped gyms and more, but our Bannerghatta girls’ hostels and independent PG in Mathikere are also in proximity to famous educational institutions. Opting for a co-living PG helps you manage your finances better and you also have time on your hands to pursue other fun activities as your basic chores are done already by the time you are done with your studies which is not the case with renting an apartment.

2)Keep celebrations light

Life at college will surely give you a lot of reasons and occasions to celebrate. From birthdays to the semester ending and exams going well you will surely be booked and busy, but at the same time, it is important to keep your budget in check. Instead of heading out to fancy cafes and restaurants, you can gather your friends for a chill hangout session or a fun house party.

3)Street shopping – FTW

The IT city of India has tonnes of markets that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. You can find clothes, bags, books, home decor, accessories and even inexpensive groceries at markets such as KR Market, Commercial Street and Brigade Road. These places help you stay on top of trends without having to put in a lot of money.

4)Travel smart

One of the best ways to cut down costs while living as a student is by finding an accommodation option in proximity to your educational institution. However, if you are unable to do so, there are still ways you can improvise and save up on travel. The simplest way is to opt for public transport instead of cabs. Bangalore is well connected by metro that you can use to travel around the city and by investing in a smart card, you can save up to 15% every month. Besides the metro for long routes, you can opt for rickshaws, carpools and autos for everyday travel.

5)Avail student discounts

A student ID is an amazing thing to carry with you at all times. More often than not cafes, historical monuments, park entries and entertainment spots have student offers and discounts that you can avail of if you have your ID with you. This makes your visits to these places even more fun as you tend to save money!

6)Drink and eat smart

Bangalore as a city has a lot to offer in terms of food and nightlife. While visiting a fancy restaurant or a high-end pub is good every once in a while, it can create a dent in your wallet if done frequently. Instead, you can easily explore other amazing places in the city which offer a variety of street food and head to Bangalore’s old-school pubs where you can enjoy the best of party life at affordable prices.

Budget like a pro with the above tips and make the best of your college life in Bangalore!
