Pune, the city of rich culture, natural beauty, and egalitarian lifestyle, is also developing into one of the main educational hubs in the western part of the country. Each year hundreds of thousands of students move to Pune in the hopes of gaining access to higher education in some of the best colleges of Maharashtra. The admission to most of these colleges and the higher education courses they offer is through the CUET (Central Universities Entrance Test) exam. In 2022 alone nearly 14 lakh students took on this university entrance test and in 2023 this number is slated to increase greatly. If you are one of the students looking to gain admission in a Pune college and find accommodation in a PG in Katraj or near one of the main colleges, you must understand the CUET Structure of 2022 to be prepared for the upcoming educational year.

      #  From the year 2022, the NTA has revised the structure of the CUET entrance exam. The exam will now be conducted in an ONLINE mode. Being computer-based will enable many more students to take on the test. The duration of the exam will depend on the courses opted for the students.

      #  CUET can be attempted in any of the 13 languages specified by the NTA. These include Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

As of 2022, the CUET exam consists of four sections –

Section IA – 13 Languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu)

Section IB – 20 Languages (Arabic, Bodo, Chinese, Dogri, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Manipuri, Nepali, Persian, Russian, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Spanish, and Tibetan)

Section II – Under this section there are 27 domain-specific subjects and the candidate may choose up to 6 subjects depending on the course requirements of the universities.

Section III – In this section, the general knowledge including logical reasoning, mental ability, quantitative reasoning, and current affairs knowledge will be tested.

Exam format –

The CUET is an objective, choice-based exam. In each section the candidates must attempt questions in the following format –

  #    Section 1: 40 Questions to be marked out of 50 (45 minutes per language)

 #     Section 2: 40 Questions to be marked out of 50 (45 minutes per subject)

 #     Section 3: 60 Questions to be marked out of 75 (60 minutes)

In 2022, CUET was the entrance exam for admission into 88 universities in India, including all the central universities. By 2023 it is expected that over 100 universities will allow admission into their various courses through the CUET.
